Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use solar ceiling lights at night?

Yes. Solar Whiz Lights can be set up with a night operations kit, which switches the lights over to mains power at night

Do the lights still work on cloudy days?

Yes. Our ceiling lights are solar-powered and can be set up to brighten and dim with the available light. However, dimmer and night operation kits are accessories that allow you to use Solar Whiz Lights just like regular ceiling lights

Are they bright enough to replace a normal ceiling light?

Yes, Solar Whiz Lights are definitely bright enough to replace regular ceiling lights.

The lumen output will depend on the size of the light that you install; bigger lights put out more lumens compared to smaller ones. You can view the lumen output on the product list on this page: https://www.solarskylights.com.au/products-page/

Can I install it myself?

Yes. Our solar-powered ceiling lights are proudly DIY friendly. It is an easy installation process and can be completed by any handy person.

The only exception to this is if you require a power point in the roof space (for night ops). In these cases, you will need a licensed electrician

Can one solar panel power more than one light?

Yes. One panel easily powers multiple ceiling lights. A single solar panel can power up to 10 lights!

Do they need mains electricity?

Not necessarily. Our solar-powered ceiling lights operate well without mains power during the day when the PV panel is exposed to sunlight. The lights can then be switched over to mains power at night to continue using them
